Wearable design products are rapidly integrating into our lives. Often times, we find that wearable devices are designed to add substantial value to our lives whether it is on a professional level or regarding our personal activities.

MAKO loves seeing new product designs that have a direct positive impact on people’s lives. We believe that most of the time technology can change the user’s experience for the better and find solutions to our daily problems. Health is undoubtedly one of the most important issues in the tech industry, especially as our lifestyle becomes increasingly stressful and exhausting. Today, wearable design products and new technologies are developed to make a difference to both our mental and physical health. A New York-based start-up introduced a new wearable, high-tech wristband known as Feel, a device that measures and tracks your emotions throughout the day.

Sentio Solutions Inc. has designed a cutting-edge emotional tracker that charts your emotions on a graph, to illustrate the current stress levels of the user, and provide personalized recommendations to help them feel better and healthier. The concept behind this wearable product design could be compared to the FitBit wristband designed for sport activities. With the wearable tech industry’s rapidly expansion, it is anticipated that we’ll be seeing many variations of wearable tech devices that track very specific aspects in our lives. In this case, Feel’s remarkable technology is designed to determine which events cause you emotional stress and provides tips for you to relax and reduce pressure in those particular situations.

A Product Design combined with a mobile app

The product design of this wristband has Bluetooth connection which links Feel to your smartphone. By doing this the user receives real-time data about their mental health.

Feel uses four sensors that measure and track galvanic skin response, blood volume pressure, and skin temperature. The Feel app then receives data from the device to allow users to view their emotional state and help them get an idea of the factors that have a direct impact on their mood. Whether you have had a stressful meeting or an overwhelming workday, the Feel companion app will alert you with notifications that indicate when your stress levels peak. During those instances, the user is given suggestions on improving their overall mental wellness by reading a book or taking a moment to laugh. The app also gives you the option to set up your own daily wellness plan that will introduce habits that will improve your mental health. Moreover, the device offers features such as “alerts” that make the wristband vibrate in stressful situations.

This wearable design product made an appearance at CES 2016 and will be launching in December 2016. Here at MAKO we’re passionate about supporting mental health and wellness. It’s important for us to be a part of an industry that is able to introduce innovative product designs that help fight these causes.  We look forward to seeing how the Feel wristband will change people’s lives for the better!
