Consumers Products: Amazon Distribution | MAKO Design + Invent

Distributing Products with Amazon

April 6, 2015

At MAKO, we guide our clients through various stages of product development. One particular stage that is extremely important and often underrated, is the distribution for consumers products. Many start-up companies invest all their energy on the first stage of product development, such as patenting and prototyping, but encounter hindrances with the distribution. Amazon has recently created an extremely valuable service called Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA), which allows for sellers to be able to manage their distributions at a higher standard.

How it works

Fulfillment By Amazon rids sellers from the tedious tasks of shipping their consumers products and managing their inventories. The service operates by allowing sellers to stock products in a warehouse, and takes the responsibility of managing all distribution tasks for them. The seller simply creates an account with FBA, stocks his/her products in the FBA warehouse, while buyers purchase these products through the Amazon website. The service also provides faster shipping services for free. It is a system that benefits all parties involved. FBA takes a service charge and commission from the seller, but allows them to significantly grow their business through mass distribution. ‘Arbitrage: The Authoritative Guide on How it Works, Why it Works, and How to Make it Work for You’ is a great book to turn to for a more detailed understanding of Fulfillment By Amazon. “Amazon’s Fulfillment By Amazon (FBA) program is allowing businesses of all sizes to reach new customers and bring new consumers products to market faster than ever. Marketplace sellers can now reach Amazon’s best customers, Amazon Prime members, with the same promotional shipping programs as Amazon itself. FBA should be considered an unfair competitive advantage for sellers compared to standard merchant fulfilled shipping. If you’re a business and you sell online, you owe it to yourself to check out Amazon’s FBA program. You’ll only wonder why you didn’t do it sooner,” says Mr. Chris Green, Director of Scan Power and author of ‘Arbitrage’.

With this service, start-up companies that offer consumers products will have the opportunity to expand their business significantly. More importantly, Fulfillment By Amazon gives business owners the chance to redirect their energy towards other areas of their business. At MAKO, we love seeing giants such as Amazon, providing services to individuals to promote and advance their businesses. With such advancements occurring continuously in the online world, it is now the time for entrepreneurs to excel in taking their productions to new heights. This era of information and technology is making it increasingly easier for individuals to thrive in developing their entrepreneurial dreams. Take advantage!
