Our Mechanical Design Firm is Highlighted on the Google Blog

Google Blog Highlights MAKO as an Exceptional Lean Growth Start Up

Every hour of every day, multiple people at our mechanical design firm are using Google’s applications to serve our clients in the best possible way. It’s not every day however, that Google shines the spotlight on us! We were honored to be the topic of Google’s blog, which highlighted our mechanical design firm as an exceptional example of how to achieve lean growth using G Suite.

The inspiration for the Google X MAKO Blog

Writers from the Google team approached Kevin Mako, MAKO Design’s Founder after he consulted for their Google Austin office. Word spread about the success the MAKO team has had working in their Toronto, Austin, and London offices by efficiently uniting our global mechanical design firm using Google Apps. It was shortly after this consulting visit that they requested an interview with Kevin for their Google blog, as they wanted to highlight MAKO.

The blog begins by telling the story of Kevin Mako’s entrepreneurial development. He sold golf shirts out of his car in high school, which gradually evolved into sourcing products overseas throughout university. These experiences showed him that inventors need help turning their ideas into full-fledged businesses through help with sourcing, prototyping, and manufacturing. Thus, our mechanical design firm was born.

Use of G Suite and Google Apps at Our Mechanical Design Firm

In the past year, MAKO has launched more than 150 products with our 25-person team helping us achieve this feat. Google highlighted how well MAKO uses their web-based apps, including the use of Google Chrome browser and Google Apps. The example Kevin gave was pre-installing bookmarks for new employees on industry-leading design publications like Core 77 and Inventors Digest so they can stay up to date on the latest trends in design and engineering.

Kevin also detailed through out the Google blog how he loves that Chrome integrates with Google Apps, since our mechanical design firm uses Apps for everything. As MAKO’s Founder and Head of IT, it gives him peace of mind knowing that Chrome automatically updates every 6 weeks so he always knows the whole team is using the most up to date version.

Our mechanical design firm is completely geared towards helping entrepreneurs and start ups bring their ideas to life. It has and continues to be Google’s reliable tools that allows Kevin to run a lean business by keeping IT costs low, and giving the team the tools they need to work efficiently.
