MAKO Awarding Best Projects at This Year’s Maker Festival

Attention all makers, tinkerers, and builders of things! This year’s Maker Festival in Toronto has an all-new component brought to you by MAKO Design + Invent, our engineering design firm. For the most innovative, most interesting, and most promising projects, we give you an honorary Mako Design Award!

Toronto’s Maker Festival

The Maker Festival is a celebration of Toronto’s tech, DIY, and maker communities. And who better to recognize and encourage the pursuit of these projects than our engineering design firm? Starting July 6 and continuing for over a month, the Maker Festival is hosting over 100 events run by maker spaces, creative organizations, and studios in Toronto. Kicking off these events is the Maker Extravaganza, where makers gather to show off their projects to over 15,000 attendees and where we will be awarding the greatest creators!

Awards Brought to You By Our Engineering Design Firm

Alongside the Maker Festival Team, in conjunction with our engineering design firm, we are searching for the most interesting, innovative, and promising projects. Those with elements of robust creativity, simple functionality, and tasteful design will all be pulling our attention. We’re looking for the projects that make us say, “Why didn’t I think of that?” Or simply the straight-up weird, wacky, and wonderful projects and products that make us say, “Woah!”

Thanks to the incredible volunteers, sponsors, and VIPs, the Toronto Maker Festival is completely free to attend. It’s not just for techy or design people either. With everything from art installation to textiles to wearables and robotics, there’s a little something for everyone. We hope to see you down there.
