Kharaband Wearable Device Nominated for Prestigious Award

In this day and age, it’s hard to not be in a room with at least one person wearing a smartwatch these days, or someone who is checking in to see if they’ve reached their 10,000 step goal. Although there has been a ton of progress made in the smartwatch domain, a new wearable device has just taken over.

About Kharaband

The founder of Kharaband, Harp Gahunia used to own a Pebble Watch, a pioneer in the smartwatch space. Although the product was innovative, the battery life fell short and only lasted 24 hours, making it annoying to constantly have to charge the device.

Once the Apple Watch hit the marketplace, he rejoined the wearable device movement thinking that this innovative tech pioneer had to give its users a watch that has a longer battery life than a day. However, the battery life appeared even worse on these devices. This was the “ah-ha” moment Harp needed to realize there was an opportunity for him to enter the marketplace with a solution.

A Profitable Device

Sales revenue from the wearable device segment is projected to grow from $16 billion US dollars in 2016 to $73 billion by 2022. Even though this category is on a steady rise, there’s still room for improvement in the sector and MAKO Design + Invent’s client saw an opportunity to improve what was in the marketplace already.

Although it was created to work with the Apple Watch, the Kharaband’s technology works with other brands as well. The mission of the band was to serve as an option for those in high-performance sports or with active lifestyles. It serves as an extra power source and helps make your wearable devices last for up to four times longer on a single charge.

Award-Nominated Innovation Wearable Device

With the success of this innovative solution to a problem smartwatch users were facing, Kharaband was nominated recently for the 10th IoT/WT Innovation World Cup. This is a world-leading IoT (internet of things) competition that supports tech entrepreneurs in taking their development further by allowing them to present their ideas in front of key IoT industry players and investors.

The winner could walk away with prizes worth over $500K!

We’re so excited to see one of our client’s innovation and success lead them to such a prestigious nomination. We can’t wait to see the results!
