What is #MeetMako?

As a Product Design Firm, here at Mako Design and Invent we interact with our clients on very close basis in order to be very transparent about the design process and the development of an inventor’s product. We are a team of positive, friendly, and happy people who are excited and passionate about design, growth and learning about new ideas and concepts every day! With three current open offices, each of the members in each office all carry a unique and special persona that adds to the amazing quality of what makes Mako Design and Invent so great. We started the #MeetMako campaign to allow clients and future clients who are interested in working with us to learn more about who we are and who you’ll be working with! This campaign also serves as a great resource to learn about who will be helping you produce and develop your product and introduce to you a little more about who Mako Design and Invent is, what it’s like to work here and about the office culture! Last week we introduced meet our office coordinator, Helen. This week let’s introduce Mako’s Senior Mechanical Designer, Luther Yap!

Meet Mako’s Senior Mechanical Designer, Luther!

A core member of our team here at Mako Design + Invent is our Senior Mechanical Designer, Luther Yap! Luther brings over 20 years of industrial design experience to our design team and wealth of knowledge and insight. Before starting his career in industrial design, Luther studied at the Ontario College of Art and Design for Industrial Design and graduated top of class. Since then, he’s acquired a long history of experience in the industrial design field by being exposed to number of different design and tech start ups and companies local to Toronto! As Mako’s Senior Mechanical Designer, his responsibilities involve pushing the envelope to take products to their next step by providing experienced and great mechanical detail to the product ideas, we receive here at MAKO. Because our clients at Mako Design + Invent typically would like to take their ideas further through small runs to understand how their product will perform in the market, with this in mind, Luther role is important to the design process because with his years of experience in industrial and product design, he offers extensive insights as to how well products or designs can pan out in the market.

Working as Mako’s Senior Mechanical Designer

Working at Mako Design + Invent involves something new everyday! Since we offer so much services, it’s important that our team members are able to wear many hats in their responsibilities and be ready to take design to the next level with innovative ideas and designs. With Luther as Mako’s Senior Mechanical Designer, he shares that one of the most important things that one needs when designing is the freedom to explore ideas, like we do at MAKO! Luther explains that exploring ideas is not only beneficial for the designers, but is beneficial for everyone – clients included, since it opens up a world of possibility to what product designs can offer. Luther’s motivation stems from seeing newer and younger talent jump into the design field. With this in mind, Luther shares that his favourite thing about working as Mako’s Senior Mechanical Designer is being around a younger group of people and designers because he believes that younger people think differently, which offers great insight to how different perspectives work within the design field.
