Mako Client Spotlight: Companion Bike!

One of our greatest pleasure at Mako Design is getting to meet and work with talented and passionate inventors from around the world! We’ve worked hard as a company to expand our services worldwide and bring world-class design to some of the most booming cities in the world for product design and entrepreneurship. Thus, opening our office in Austin, Texas has been a greatly gratifying experience as we’ve met and got to work with extremely talented minds to help create and bring the next big and innovative products to market using the best Austin product design services! As such, Mako Design was pleased to work with Quan Pham, inventor of The Companion Bike!

About the Companion Bike

Invented by our client Quan Pham, the Companion Bike is a tricycle style bicycle that features a removable front seat and a foldable carbon fiber frame. Like every genius product, the Companion Bike is the perfect solution for those who are unable to ride bikes. What the companion bike can offer is the freeing feeling of riding a bike accompanied by a close family member or friend! While one person can sit in the front, the other can ride the bicycle from behind and help transport the other person around. Not only is this invention perfect for those with mobility challenges, elders or kids, but also works as a great option for when you need to move large items from one place to another! The Companion Bike is not only helpful is who it can serve but comes with a bunch of great features that make it a convenient and efficient product for the owner. Using the best Austin product design services to make The Companion Bike, the bike features a carbon fiber frame that is designed to fold making it easy to store or place on a car rack for travel, is adaptable and easy to use, is effortless in its set up or getting to other places and is allowed for use no matter where you want to go!

How we Used our Best Austin Product Design Services on the Companion Bike

When Mako Design first heard about this idea, we were intrigued and excited to create such an interesting and helpful product that we were sure many would enjoy! Our client, Quan Pham, is a passionate inventor who had a clear vision for the Companion Bike after being inspired by his trip to Vietnam witnessed mini rickshaws as taxis. Once picking up this project, our Austin Design team, lead by our director of design Tim Uys, was asked to our best Austin product design services to restyle the bike to make it look more modern and exciting, leading up to how it looks today! The main point and innovation that Tim and the team faced were baking the Companion Bike design foldable so that it could be stored or take up as much room as that of a regular bike, therefore our design of the companion bike features a collapsible build in order for it to be conveniently stored in smaller spaces.

Once restyling the style of bike, we began to work on the prototype for the new design of the Companion Bike. What our best Austin product design services had to offer for the bike included: introducing state of the art carbon fiber, making up the composition of the bike in order to make the bike high quality due to the materials structural strength, weight-reducing features and its ability to form complex shapes that were suggested during the bike concept phase. As seen from the videos, using the best Austin product design services we could offer, we were able to create a functional and quality prototype!
