Speaker Invention Design: Ikea and Sonos' Speaker Picture Frame

Ikea & Sonos Partner to Release a Picture Frame Smart Speaker

“Looks like music. Sounds like art.” Oh, that’s clever, Ikea. In partnership with Sonos, Ikea recently announced the SYMFONISK Wi-Fi picture frame, a smart speaker invention design. What does affordable furniture have anything to do with premium audio, you might ask.

Well, if you’re a fan of Ikea or Sonos, you’re probably already familiar with their lamp speaker and bookshelf speaker. This new picture frame speaker combines Sonos’ audio technology with Ikea’s design philosophy to create a speaker that looks like a piece of art.

Our team loves this new speaker invention design because it combines two functions in a brilliantly simple design. And we certainly know a thing or two about blending multi-functioning products with beautiful aesthetics. Last year we won the world-renowned Red Dot for one of these products – the ROVER Packhopper!

At first sight, the Packhopper may seem like a typical rolling tennis bag that does all the standard features really well. Sure, it’s a durable bag with plenty of space for tennis balls, accessories, and multiple racquets. However, it also functions both as a portable ball hopper and ball collector, making it the ultimate tennis companion.

Despite the number of features packed in our invention design, it’s an accessible product that looks and feels familiar – that’s what makes the Packhopper unique and innovative.

Just like Ikea and Sonos’ new picture speaker.

Included with the picture frame speaker are a magnetic hook and rubber feet. That way, if you feel like hanging it on your wall, you can do it vertically or horizontally. Or, if you’re living in a rental and don’t want to damage the walls, you can use the rubber feet to stand the picture frame speaker on your desk, bookshelf, or any other flat surface that you see fit.

This speaker invention design comes in white and black to fit perfectly with the rest of the decor in your home. The front panel is also interchangeable – meaning that you’ll be able to change the artwork whenever you want. You can get yours from the IKEA store for US$199 / CA$249.
