MAKO’s Partner, the DMZ, Named Best University-led Incubator in the World

The DMZ at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada was just named the best university-led business incubator in the world! Since 2010, the DMZ has been helping tech and invention startups in Canada turn their inventions into reality. They help budding entrepreneurs build great businesses by connecting them with customers, capital experts and a fantastic community of entrepreneurs and influencers.

For invention startups, this is where "the magic happens."

About the Ryerson DMZ

The DMZ has incubated roughly 300 tech and invention startups and has raised close to $400 million, creating more than 3,000 jobs. It’s amazing growth and success helping young inventors and entrepreneurs has led to them opening an office in New York City in the last few years. They have also developed a sales accelerator program and forged partnerships with some of the most noteworthy companies and banks like Facebook to develop accelerator programs.

About the award

Ryerson’s DMZ was ranked the best in the world by UBI Global, tying for first with the U.K’s SETsquared. UBI Global is a leader in performance analysis of business incubators around the world. Based in Stockholm, the research organization looks at 20 key performance indicators when judging which include funding raised by tech and invention startups, jobs created, the survival rate of the incubated companies, etc.

Since the last UBI ranking in 2015, the DMZ has created an advisory council with top tech and business minds from across North America, as well as working on expanding their offerings and partnerships with leading companies.

Invention startups apply for the $10,500 grant to be used towards their business' development.
