MAKO Starts 2022 with Another Huge Award Win: 2021 IDA Design Award

January 21, 2022

MAKO has certainly started the year with a bang! We won bronze in the coveted IDA 2021 product design competition for the CNCT! Speaking of the CNCT, we also won the world-renown Good Design Award with this project. And just at the end of last year in December, we earned a NY Product Design Award for the ROVER Packhopper. That’s already three awards in the span of about a month! As the pioneering end-to-end product development firm, we’re always excited to see whenever our team earns a design award. It’s simply further evidence that small businesses and startups can go toe-to-toe with the very best in the world.

About the CNCT

Inspired by Tesla vehicles, MAKO Design built a cooler that’s the perfect pair for the iconic EV. Rugged yet sleek, the uniquely shaped rotomolded CNCT slides perfectly in both the trunk and the frunk of the Model S, X, and Y, and the trunk of the Model 3. The fully detachable lid doubles as a serving tray and locks vertically to the top edge of the cooler when you need to put it aside. Even the handles on the CNCT were inspired by the Model 3 and Model Y. Indeed, the jury in this product design competition loved how the handles eject with a simple press. The metallic finish contrasts beautifully with the familiar Tesla red finish. It holds up to 17 liters of your favorite foods and drinks while keeping it all fresh for up to 48 hours. Best yet, they’re about to re-launch with new colors, including silver, blue and white!
