Mako Design and Invents Client – The Cheese Sleeve!

At Mako Design and Invent, we love to celebrate and show recognition towards the multiple successes of our clients! Our spotlights help to teach our audiences not only the great products we get to design, but also the amazing innovations and ideas that are brought to us from our creative clients. Amongst the many spotlights we have done in the past, our newest spotlight will focus on Mako Design and Invents Client, Lowell MacLean and his product called the ‘Cheese Sleeve’!

What is the Cheese Sleeve?

Advertised on their main website, The Cheese Sleeve is the greatest thing since sliced cheese! Mako Design and Invents Client, The Cheese Sleeve, is an innovative kitchen product whose idea was brought to us by Lowell MacLean who thought of a great solution to a common problem. After many instances having trouble keeping the one end of cheese kept fresh after opening its original packaging, Lowell thought of a product that would cover than open end in order to preserve the freshness of the cheese. This product is not only handy in that it helps to keep cheese from getting stale and hard, but it also helps the user to save money from not needing to throw the cheese out, ergo saving more cheese to eat from it!

After coming up with this genius solution to this common problem, MacLean came to the team at Mako to have his product built and brought to life! Designed by our senior industrial designer, Rob Colgan, the design of the product is simple and efficient in that It can easily slide onto any generic size of store-bought cheese, making it the perfect versatile product for any cheese lover. The material of the product is made out of a soft, malleable plastic that allows the user room to open up the product a bit without having the fear of breaking the product. Because of its flexible material, it allows any generic size of cheese to easily fit into the product, is easy to clean and dishwasher safe! As Mako Design and Invents Client, we made sure that the design, efficiency, quality of material, and function of The Cheese Sleeve were all quick and easy to prototype and design and is the perfect example of what we call the MVP at Mako Design and Invent!

MacLeans’ product is currently available on his website where you can purchase either a case or enquire about other ways to receive his product! Alternatively, you can catch the helpful product being sold at trade shows!
